School So Far (DoubleMeaning)

So 6weeks has zoomed by(ohmy time flies and i feel old) and i'm having my first quiz(15% weightage) next week ): I came to realise that my wardrobe is pathetically limited and i'm like wearing the same clothes practically everyweek just different ones on different days. Urgh. Miss SA's uniform much. Apparently my body has adapted to functioning at 4hrs of sleep per day - if i sleep more than 4hrs, i'll feel extremely tired, but if i slept less than 4hrs, i can stay awake better. Positive feedback? Okay let me tell you pple abt my modules! (ignore abrupt change of topic)

Cores
BS101 Introductory Biology
The most useless and retarded course of all and along with it the lousiest lecturer who looks more like a cleaner than rather than a prof(he hangs this long towel from his waist which he uses to wipe his face, wth). And yes this is that course that repeats slides every lecture. The other non repeated slides are filled with pictures and examples where you have to infer and fish out the mainpoints which ranges ard 3-5mainpoints per lecture. And the lecturer happens to be the head of Biological Sciences. The tutorial qns are of high quality too: what is the concentration of the dead sea; estimate the no of cells are there in a human, mouse, elephant and whale. I seriously have no idea how to study for this module.

BS102 Biophysical Chemistry
Yes the name of the module tells you that it is Biology+Physics+Chemistry which is also the most puzzling module. Swedish lecturer with a highly distracting shiny bald head and trace of accent makes it worse ): Just finished thermodynamics, at quantum theory now and i'm on the verge of burning the textbook then gulping it down (1000+ pages, i think need 5cups of water). There're countless equations(given in exam, i hope) and diff conditions require diff eqns even when you're looking for the same unknown.

BS103 Organic Chemistry
Ah, my 'favourite' subject. It's alright so far, mostly just adding onto what we learnt in JC but they have like what 92305485728341 terms? Have to remember what those terms mean ): At steriochemistry now but er having trouble visualising the 3D models hence resulting in me holding 4 pens(represent carbon's 4bonds) and rotating it in every direction like an idiot most of the time. I even cut out paper to see the planes pls.

BS104 Biochemistry I - BIOMOLECULES
Korean lecturer with black belt in taekwondo and loves coffee from CanteenB. Lecture content has been revolving around aminoacid proteins nucleicacid DNA RNA aminoacid proteins nucleicacid DNA RNA and nothing else hence still manageable except for lousy lecture slides. New prof recently who has the same surname as FernandoTorres but looks nothing like him and appears to hate students. His reply when asked to speak louder: why dont you move to the front instead? Has nice handwriting and speaks the most understable english so far.

Electives
HE191 Principles Of Economics
Best lecturer of all, speaks super fast but clear. The only local(my guess) lecturer and he can go on for 2hrs nonstop like he's reading off a script. Somewhat humorous, repeats the phrase 'consume until MB=MC' at least 10times every lecture. Speed of lecture is extremely fast, just finished externalities, govt policies and it's Macroecons next lec meaning in 6 lectures, he finished what JC took more than 1yr to cover. Alot of my friends with no econs background are going bonkers(thankgod for H1 Econs) due to information overload. Held at one of the bigger LT(some 500+ seats) but it is always completely full and pple have to sit on the floor and steps. Demand exceeds supply(constant) resulting in shortage and increase in price, hence formation of blackmarket(chopping of seats).

EM104 Air Quality Management
Only elective which has no tutorial and can fit into my timetable but it's on a wednesday which i supposedly have no school. Yucks. Waste my 3hrs travelling. It's under Civil and Environment Engineering hence super alot of calculations but the content is kind of interesting. Lecturer is from China but his english is understandable and somewhat humorous. Best lecturer aft Econ's one - it seems that my elective lecturers are better than core lecturers. Sad.

Had wet lab on mon(yes i remembered my lab coat and covered shoes and long pants this time) was fun! Posted pics on fb alrdy but i know pple like mh are fb-inactive, haha. Lab was on Micelles Formation(it's not the red thing, that's the indicator!)

Shook too hard hence the bubbles!

That's our prof in the background!

Who looks like Bobdog and is super cute! When discussing the dateline for our lab report, someone suggested aft recess wk (5oct) which we thought he would refuse. Who knows, in the end our reports are due on 23oct. Yes, we have more than a mnth to do the report.

If you're wondering what dry lab is abt, this is what we did today.

3D model of protein and we're supposed to find the bond length, bond angle and unknown residues. The horrible part is when we have to construct our own 3D model - have to calculate ALL the bond length, ALL the bond angle and xyz coordinates seriously can die man. But luckily we arent required to do so yet.

Er, different colour sticks represent different elements!

Chelsea VS FC Porto 1-0
Ah, drogba and bosingwa banned and deco injured but we won anw! :D was raining heavily during the match giving awesome pictures!

*swoons

More awesome goals and passes pls, Lampsy

Kind of(actually pretty much) upset that i'll miss the Chelsea VS Tottenham and ManUtd VS ManCity(ManUtd pls kick ManCity's ass) derbys this weekend! Going to the airport tmr to send my parents off for the company trip(ohmygod need to train from AMK to Changi?!) Which is why me and sissy are in sg this weekend ): Anyone's hse with cable and crash-able? I only need the teevee and sofa.

Okay, it's 330am now time to crash, meeting Mabs Ship and KahHwee tmr!
